Kurt Farquhar is an American music composer. Kurt was born in Illinois, Chicago. Kurt is the youngest member of the family and has four siblings as well. When he was twelve years old, Kurt did his first symphonic project. At an early age, Kurt became interested in music and wished to pursue his career as a musician. In Chicago, Kurt used to sing songs on the streets. Later, he took admission at Berklee College of Music in the city of Boston.
Under the guidance of percussion expert Johnny Lane in Eastern Illinois University, Kurt got training in the art of melody. In fact, he went abroad to attend The National Conservatory of Music. People would like to know that the historic city of Versailles is the host to this institution. Kurt chose to make jazz-themed music and performed with several artists of the same kind. He also worked with Freddie Hubbard, a Grammy-winning performer. Kurt and his friends formed the band “Big Slamm” where he was the principal vocalist.
As they collaborated with Modern Records, Big Slamm launched their debut single “Livin Large.” “Livin Large” got popular among the audience. Eventually, the song featured in the first episode of the show of the same name. Since then, Kurt has operated as music director for a different number of films and TV projects. As of now, Kurt runs True Music, a company which deals with licensing music in the entertainment industry.
His journey in the television industry began in 1989 when Kurt was involved in NBC’s Jackee. Out of his seven BMI prizes, Kurt got four titles for “The King of Queens.” Recently, Kurt agreed to compose tunes for Greg Berlanti’s Black Lightning, a live-action superhero show. Black Lightning will premiere on The CW network in 2017. In 2001, he began to contribute his skills to movies as well.
