C. Thomas Howell is a well-known American actor as well as director. He is famous for his works in The Outsiders. Christopher Thomas Howell was born on 7 December 1966 at Van Nuys, California, U.S. He is also known as Tommy Howell and Tom Howell. His father was Christopher N, a stunt coordinator, and a rodeo performer. His mother was Candace Howell.

Thomas has three siblings. Stacy and Candi are her sisters, and John is his brother. His parents got divorced when he was very young, and he then lived with his mother.

He was married to Rae Dawn Chong from 1989-1990. She was his co-star in Soul Man. In 1992, he again got married to Sylvia Anderson. They have three children, Isabelle born on 17 February 1993. Their second child Dashiell was born on 2 January 1997 and third child Liam was born on 24 April 2001. He lives in Stevenson Ranch, California with his family.

When Thomas was a very little boy, he did his television debut with The Brian Kelly Show for an episode. He has also performed in rodeo and has been the winner of the Junior Rodeo Association. He also tried stunt coordinating for a few years.

His film debut was in E.T, The Extra-Terrestrial. His major initial project was The Outsiders in which he played the lead role of Ponyboy Curtis. He also bagged an award for Young Artist Award for his role in the movie. He went on to become the teen icon and appeared in teen magazines like 16 Magazine and Tiger Beat.
