Andy Garcia

Andy Garcia is a Cuban-American director and actor. Andres Arturo Garcia Menendez was born on 12th April 1956 in Havana, Cuba. His father, Rene Garcia Nunez, was an attorney and avocado farmer and his mother, Amelie Menendez, was a teacher. His father started a fragrance business later in the US. Andy is youngest in the three children; other two are a sister, Tessi and a brother, Rene. Their family moved to Miami, Florida when Andy was 5. He did his schooling from Miami Beach Senior High School. He played basketball on the school team. During his last year in school, he was affected by mononucleosis; which turned him to start his career in acting.

He learned to act under the guidance of Jay W. Jensen in his school. He completed his graduation at Florida International University. Andy married Marivi Lorido in 1982. The couple has four children three daughters and a son namely Dominik Garcia-Lorido, an actress, Daniella, Alessandra and Andres. Andy started his acting career doing small roles in the TV series. His first acting appearance was in the TV series ‘Hill Street Blues’ (1984). He got his first big role in Brian De Palma’s ‘The Untouchables’ in 1987. In 1989, Andy played the role of Vincent Mancini in ‘Godfather- III’; he was nominated for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie.
