Sean Cain is an American film director, producer, editor and writer, who was born on August 31st, 1970. Sean hails from the San Francisco Bay Area and started in the film business as an editor on Kindred Spirits, a yet to be released feature film by director, Victor Salva. This inspired Sean to direct and write his first feature film, which was named Naked Beneath the Water. He used it to graduate the cinema program at San Francisco in 1995. This movie was a low budget psychological horror movie. It was shunned by his colleagues at college, but ultimately sold well on VHS via underground thriller magazines.
After completing his graduation, Sean Cain went to Houston, Texas to get involve on Salva's Powder. Sean got an amazing experience where he saw that whether the budget is $20 million or $2000, the process of making movies was essentially the same. Sean very much enjoyed the time in the Lone Star state, and spent the next few years working in the movie industry there that led to directing the short movie, South of Heaven featuring Lew Temple. It was not until the early 2000’s that Sean Cain saw that numerous micro budget horror-thriller films originally released on VHS were finding new audience on DVD platform.
Sean re-shooted about 60% of the film Naked Beneath the Water, and finally got proper distribution on DVD in 2008. Sean Cain currently stays in Los Angeles where he built Velvet Hammer Films with his business partner, Jim Wright. He has got the opportunity to direct six more movies, Silent Night, Breath of Hate, Zombie Night, Jurassic City, Eruption LA, Terror Birds, and Cerberus. Sean also served on many horror projects as a producer and in 2009 titled the 'Horror Specialist' by Michael Gingold at Fangoria.
