Gavin Hood

Gavin Hood born on May 12^th,1963, is a filmmaker, director, producer, and actor who hails from South America. He was born in Johannesburg, South America in a theatrical family. So, his first choice was to study film. He graduated from the St. Stithians College, University of Witwatersrand. He started his career in directing when he was paid to make educational dramas for the South African Department of Health. His first drama was the Storekeeper. Hood’s first feature film was A Reasonable Man. This film portrays the story revolving around the killing of a young child, who was mistaken to be a tokoloshe, who is a water spirit.

He directed The Polish Language in 2001 when the director fell ill. After Polish, he directed Tsotsi in 2005. For Tsotsi, he won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2000, a magazine called Variety declared him as one of the ten directors to watch. He directed Rendition, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. These two movies gave him immense success. Preceding the release of the film, he spoke about the political undercurrent of the same.

In 2011, Hood started working at Orson Scott’s Ender’s Game. He directed the movie and released in November the same year. He also acted and directed Eye In The Sky which launched in 2015. Hood appeared in this film and played the role of Colonel Ed. Welsh. Hood presented his movie Eye In The Sky at the Miami International Film Festival and pointed out the mistakes of Wolverine.

As an actor, Hood has made appearances in many shows, owing to the increase in his popularity. He has appeared in Enemy Hands, and Lockdown. He also appeared in two martial arts film, American Kickboxer, and Kickboxer 5. In 2013, he also appeared in Ender’s Game as the capture voice performer.

Gavin Hood married twice. His first wife was Janine, and the second wife is Nerissa Black. He is married to Nerissa till the present day.
