Antonio Negret is a Colombian film director, popular amongst the international audience for his work in movies like Overdrive (2017), Transit (2012), Hasia la Oscuridad (2007), Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2019), etc. Mostly known for his involvement in Hollywood, Negret has worked as a filmmaker in many different languages and cultures.
Born on 13th February 1982 in Bogota, Colombia, Negret started out with his career working in theatres across Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Spain. Having gone to the School of Cinema-Television, Southern California, he happens to be a Suma Cum Laude graduate. Talented enough to claim multiple scholarships, he also holds a minor from the USC School of Theatre.
Over the years, the extremely diverse the skill set has helped Negret in contributing to the film industry as a writer, actor, cinematographer, but mostly as a producer and director. Some of his acting credits include ‘Ratas, ratones, rateros’ (1999), ‘Dreams from the middle of the World’ (1999), and ‘The Beat’ (2003).
A part of the industry for more than 30 years now, the veteran director has at least 40 major film credits to his name. In 2004, he won two awards for the film Darkness Minus Twelve, namely the Audience Award- Honourable Mention at Orinda Film Festival and Jury Diploma at St. Petersburg Message to Man Film Festival.
