Ron Pardo is a comedian, voice actor, and actor from Canada. He has appeared in more than 90 animated series. Pardo voiced Cap'n Turbot in the first episode of “PAW Patrol.” He also provided his voice for the breakout villain “Mayor Humdinger” and various other characters. He has played a variety of characters, including celebrities on the sketch comedy series "History Bites."
Pardo grew up in Pardoville, Ontario, a small rural village near Chatham named after his ancestors. He went to school in nearby, Blenheim. Later, Pardo pursued his education at Ryerson University in Toronto. He studied radio and television in college. He worked on-air and as a copywriter at “CFCO Radio.” Pardo later studied at the prestigious “University of Western Ontario” in London. He also worked as a teacher in Cambridge, Ontario, for 12 years.
Ron Pardo has a talent for imitating cartoon characters and renowned celebrities. He began performing stand-up comedy in 1994. Pardo received an award from Yuk Yuk's Search for Canada's Funniest New Comic. In 1995, he resigned from his teaching position. For several years, he did stand-up comedy. He also performed at comedy clubs and corporate gatherings.
Rick Green, a former member of The Frantics, discovered Pardo in 1997. Green hired him to play multiple characters in Rick's new show “History Bites” as a pilot. In 2000, 2005, and 2008, Pardo received ensemble cast Gemini Award nominations for his work in the series. He starred in five seasons and multiple specials of the show. Pardo portrayed Rupert McKenzie in Bob & Doug, Maxum Man in Sidekick, Cap'n Turbot and Mayor Humdinger in PAW Patrol, and Newton in later episodes of Ned's Newt. He received an ACTRA award nomination for excellent voice performance in 2010.
He voiced the lead character of "Quest" and his sidekick, Graer, in “World of Quest,” a Teletoon animated television series. In the Spin Master animated series “Bakugan Battle Brawlers,” Pardo portrayed various characters, including Hal-G. His other animated voice appearances include “Wishfart, Almost Naked Animals, Carl2, Totally Spies, Braceface, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.”The voice of Mayor Humdinger was inspired by Dudley Do-Right's cartoon character impressions and a well-known American performer.
Pardo voiced Newton in Ned's Newt, the Narrator in the English version of Spider Riders, Stripes in Marvin the Tap-Dancing Horse, and Rupert McKenzie in Bob & Doug. He was nominated for multiple awards for his outstanding vocal performance.
