John Clayton was an Australian actor, writer, producer born on 7 April 1940 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. His real name was John Alfred Clayton Calthorp. He trained himself as an actor from Wakefield College of Arts in 1974. He acted in several films and Television series. His Television credits included The Outsiders, The Flying Doctors, E Street, A Country Practice, Matlick Police, Rush, Police Rescue, Blue Heelers, Division 4, Grass Roots, All Saints, Farescape. He also won AACTA Award for the best-supporting actor. The actor was also a manager with Arthur Cecil of the Court theatre. He was the son-in-law of Dion Boucicault. His accent was Norfolk, Yorkshire. He also wrote books like Shepherds Voice, Applied Finite Element Methods, The Concept of Correlation. He also became the director for the movies Redneck Miller and Summer dog in 1977. His Television series Home and Away, which is considered mostly H&A broadcasted on Seven Networks in 1988. The series is the second most long-running show in Australia. The show completed thirty-three plus seasons successfully, and it aired in worldwide eighty-plus countries; it also won a hundred plus awards in many categories.

He worked in several theatres plays included Tom, A Touch of the poet, The chocolate frog, The old familiar juice in Russell Street Theatre, Customs, and Excise, The Roy Murphy show in Nimrod Street Theater, Family Affairs in Student Theatre.

He was active in the theatre, film and television industry from 1957 to 2003. He was a very energetic person who was always included himself in work.
