German Valdez’s real name is German Genaro Cipriano Gomez Valdez y Castillo. He was professionally known as Tin- Tan. He was a Mexican actor, comedian, and singer. He was born on September 19, 1915. German Valdez’s place of birth is Ciudad de Mexico, Mexico. He studied high school without finishing it. his nationality is Mexican, and his religion is Christian. He was the econd of a bicultural family of nine siblings, a woman and eight men. His father, Rafael, was a customs agent. He married Magdalena Martinez with whom he had a son named German Franciso. In 1948, he divorced her and remarried with Micaela Vargas with whom he had three children, namely Olga, Luis Javier, and Genaro. He got divorced with her in 1955. In 1956, he married Rosalia Julian with whom he had two children, namely Rosalia and Carlos.
German Valdez raised and began his career in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. At the age of 19, he began working at the local radio station, XEJ. It was at that time where the fashion of ‘Pachucos’ emerged in Los Angeles California. Therefore, he displayed the pachuco dress and employed its slang in several of his films, some with his brothers Manuel “El Loco” Valdez and Ramon Valdez. He also made the language of the border Mexican, known in Spanish as ‘fronterzos pachucos,’ which is famous in Mexico. He used to work as a sweeper for the XEJ, a television staion in Ciudad Juarez, when he took his decision to try and mimic the Radio Announcers for fun. Later, he was promoted to the main radio announcer himself. Then, the legendary ventriloquist Paco Miller contacted him to begin his career in films. He frequently acted alongside his “carnal” (blood brother), Marcelo Chavez, who accompanied Tin-Tan with a guitar. From 1949 onward, he was recognized as a prominent figure during his golden years of film making.
In 1948, his comedy movie “Calabacitas Tiernas” was chosen as among the best in Mexican cinema. German Valdez was also among the several people who were originally intended to be on the front cover of “The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonley Hearts Club Band,” but he declined the invitation. He had given the voice of Baloo the bear and Thomas O’Malley the cat in the Mexican Spanish animated dubbing of the Disney films “ The Jungle Book Click to look into! >> Read More... ” and “The Aristocats,” both the roles were originally voiced by Wonga Philip Harris. German Valdez died on June 29, 1973 due to cancer in Mexico city, Mexico. He was ill with hepatitis which degenerated into cancer and the fell into a hepatic coma & died.
