Assistant Makeup Artist

Assistant make-up artist is the one who maintains the make-up stations and the rooms. From keeping the rooms clean and tidy to setting up all the make-up materials like the brushes, packs, powders, products, etc. on the table, everything is managed by them. They make sure that the brushes are washed and cleaned, and the quality level of the products is maintained. They also assist the make-up artist in transporting all the kits from the van to the room. Apart from all this, a vital job is doing the base make-up for the artists an hour before the actual make-up and report if any skin/ hair issue is noticed. The seniors handle the purchase of the make-up products, but the assistant make-up artists are present for assistance.

They are present there at the time of the shot for some on-spot touch-ups between takes and maintain the continuity of the sequences. They have an excellent sense of skin and hair quality and can easily understand which product will suit which type of skin. They are very observant and have very sharp eyes for colors. They have their own make-up kit apart from the one available at the sets. When make-up artists don’t turn up in time or are unable to wait back, the responsibility is completely shifted to the assistants. They are a part of the crew right from the pre-production stage.
