Agni Devi is a political thriller flick scripted and directed by John Paul Raj and Sham Surya. The film has the ensemble cast of Bobby Simha, “Madhoo,” Remya Nambeesan, “Sathish,” Anu Mohan, “Sanjeev” and Bose Venkat. Seantoa Studio and Jai Film Productions produced the movie jointly. Jakes Bejoy composed the songs and the BGM. Jana is the cinematographer and the editing is by Deepak.

Plot

The plot deals with how a sincere cop manages the hurdles caused by a ruthless politician. It’s not only about right and wrong but who wins the game in the last ball of the last over.

Star Performance

Bobby Simha is very natural in his acting, as ever. But, his voice is dubbed and as we could identify his voice easily, we could not accept the change. Usually, we have watched Sathish uttering silly jokes. But, for the first time, he has chosen a performance oriented role and excelled in it. Coming to Madhubala, the natural actress, she had done a different role from that of her previous characters. Although she had tried a lot to change her soft expressions to a cruel woman, it seems to be an overacting in certain scenes.

Analysis

The audiences guess the story path right after a few scenes in the beginning. The makers had openly showed up the politics and nowadays, the directors are bold enough to deal with the political thrillers. Although the narration seems to be moving at a quick pace, there are a lot of loopholes that affect the movie’s flow. The casting team had worked well and handpicked the best actors. But, the directors should have concentrated more on Madhubala’s role, as her character is like a cat on a wall. If they had taken a bit extra effort, her performance would have been natural, as ever. However, it is a good effort by Madhoo! The cinematography and the music are impressive.

What’s There?

  • Good plot with a quick screenplay
  • Cinematography and music are good
  • Sathish has done a different role for the first time

What’s Not There?

  • A lot of loopholes spoil the flow
  • Bobby Simha’s dubbed voice irritates

Verdict

Although the film has a good theme and performance, if they have cleared some abrupt scenes, then it would have become a good to watch movie! However, we could watch it once!
