Analysis
Director and writer Vaduvidaiyan’s Pambattam is a gripping voyage into a world of fantasy and suspense, with production led by V Palanivel. The picture features excellent production qualities and careful art direction, which are crucial components for a story of its kind. It is a set against a retro-fantasy setting. Even with its controlled luxury, it successfully sets the scene for a murder mystery taking place against the magnificent background of a royal realm.Â
The film’s evocative and elaborately designed settings are major factors in its ability to keep viewers interested. As the story progresses in the second part, the narrative becomes less compelling, leading to a depressing conclusion that contradicts the intriguing beginning. While Jeevan does a good job playing the policeman, he does not do as well as he could as the son. The film’s promise is not fully achieved due to lack of polish in the direction, despite the dialogue having a strong resonance. In summary, despite its early promise and intriguing components. Pambattam finds it difficult to cohesively resolve its narrative threads.Â
What’s There?
• The stars gave an excellent performance.
• The music is good.
• Exciting twists and turns.
What’s Not There?
• Poor script.
• Underwhelming screenplay.
Verdict
While the second half is full of turns and twist, the first half moves a little slowly. The story which lasts only two hours and ten minutes, might lose a few more scenes. The background music by Amrish was nice. Since the movie has a limited budget, there were not many computer-generated scenes. If a little though had been given to it, the movie would have worked out better.
