Vasu, an IT professional, quit his job for his passion for filmmaking. To make a short film, he searched for a suitable girl. He finds a girl, Keerthy, who he thinks fits his character. Keerthy is a psychology student who doesn't know about facing the camera. Vasu was severely in need of her performance. Later, he gets into plagiarism trouble but soon gets relieved. Shyam Singh Roy is a Bengali social reformer during the 60s and 70s. He fought to eliminate the social injustices, including the Devadasi system and untouchability. Shyam was impressed by the dance of Mytri, a devadasi girl. He assured her that he would save her from the devadasi system. Was he able to free her? What is the connection between Vasu and Shyam? The rest of the story follows that.

Star Performance

Nani performed well as usual. He differentiated his body language for Vasu and Shyam Singha Roy. Krithi Shetty has got a meaty role to do, and she utilized the opportunity and did her best. Sai Pallavi, the natural performer, impressed the audience once again. She had a lot of moments to express various emotions, and she did that perfectly. Rahul Ravindran, Jisshu Sengupta, and Madonna did their part well.

The director has come with a different story. The screenplay is neat. Most of the first half is about the setting up of Nani's Vasu character. Yet, it was interesting. The characters are well-designed, and the right stars are engaged to play the lead roles. The film would have been better if the second half had been executed well. The climax portions seem to have ended in a hurry. The cinematography and BGM gelled well with the script.

What's There?

  • The story and screenplay are good
  • The performances of the stars are impressive

What's Not There?

  • The climax portions should have been shot better

Shyam Singh Roy created a huge expectation among the moviegoers, and it didn't disappoint anyone. With a couple of stories compared, it is a treat for the fans to watch the leads' performances. Shyam Singh Roy – Watchable!
