Plot
Aadhi and Karuna have been close friends since childhood. They live in Kombai, which is famous for the Kombaiyamman temple. Sokkan has been a loyal servant to Karuna’s family since his childhood. Karuna’s family was a Zamindar family, but their wealth diminished, and now Karuna runs a brick kiln. Karuna’s grandmother is one of the committee members of the Kombaiyamman temple. The temple has huge acres of land, which is left unused. Minister Thangapandi, a corrupted politician, plans to grab the land and sends Nagaraj, a dreaded criminal, to Kombai. Nagaraj creates a rift between Aadhi and Karuna and starts playing the game. What is the part of Sokkan in this story? The rest of the film deals with an interesting story with Sokkan as the lead.
Star Performance
Soori fits in the role perfectly and also impressed the audience in the action sequences. The climax stunt scenes are fantastic and Soori deserves a special mention in this place. Sasikumar is decent in his role as an honest businessman. Sshivada plays his wife and she is good in her performance in the given screen space. Unni is a fantastic actor. It is good to see him in a Tamil film in a full-fledged role. Vadivukkarasi did justice to her role in the limited screen time, and so did, George Maryan. RV Udhayakumar played a corrupted Minister and performed neatly. Mime Gopi fits well as a henchman.
Analysis
Though the story is simple, the execution is the biggest challenge in filmmaking. Durai Senthil Kumar has done a fantastic job as a director. Though there are a few loopholes in the film, the director didn’t make them pop up and keeps the audience engaged throughout. The characters are designed very well, irrespective of the screen timing. The casting team needs a special mention for picking a gang of well-talented stars. Yuvan’s music is fantastic and the BGMs in the action sequences are worth mentioning. The visuals are impressive and the editing is quite decent.

Verdict
If Soori goes on picking such good scripts and plays the lead role, we may miss him on the comedians’ list. However, his talent is shown from a different perspective in films like this. Garudan – Worthy-watch!
