Plot
Sankaranarayanan is a retired military man. He and his friend Mookan visit their friend Fazil Bhai in Chennai. When the neighbors asked Fazil about them, Bhai said that Sankaranarayanan had come to Chennai to celebrate his granddaughter’s birthday. However, the trio’s plan is different. They planned to capture a bank and make its officials as hostages. What is the reason behind this? The rest of the movie deals with this.
Star Performance
Ramarajan has delivered a wonderful performance with some action scenes too. His friends, played by Radha Ravi and MS Bhaskar had done a good job, supporting the protagonist, to a great extent. The rest of the cast has done what was required of them.
Analysis
The director of Saamaniyan has taken various issues and summed up in one film. Many incidents shown in the film make the audience relate it with their experience. The dialogues are sensible and make the audience feel. The first half is okay and didn’t have many interesting elements to point out. But, the director catches it in the second half, what he left in the first half. There are a lot of messages told with simple examples. The cast is neat and the stars have done a commendable job, which is one of the pluses in the film. In some scenes, we may wonder if the senior citizens can do this. Though it is a question mark which was left unanswered, the director has compensated with his logical reply in certain scenes. Ramarajan’s movies and Ilayaraaja’s music are inseparable. Raja has done a good job in his part and helped to elevate the film.

After a decade+ Ramarajan appears on screen with a story with social messages, and he has undertaken a role for his age. If you are free and want to watch a film with different performances and message, you can watch this film!
