Plot
Anthony loves the ocean and fishing. He treats the ocean as his mother. A boat from Tamilnadu was involved in an accident near Katchatheevu, and a woman from the boat was about to drown in the ocean. Anthony saved her and took her to Jaffna, and safely handed her over to a church in his area. She is Nalini, and her entire family has drowned. When Nalini started feeling that there was no one for her, Anthony came before her. Soon, Anthony and Nalini get married, and they have a daughter, Nila. Anthony had always let his fellow fishermen go on big boats, while he went in a canoe. Anthony has always been the envy of others as he successfully catches more fish than others. He believes that more than fishing tools, it is the fisherman who is the main tool in catching the fish. When he uses his savings to pursue happiness, something strange awaits him. What happened in their lives after this? The rest of the story speaks about this.
Star Performance
Vincent is excellent in his emotional performance. TJ Bhanu is good as Nalini. She shares a good chemistry with Vincent. Nizhalgal Ravi and Arul Doss are good with their natural performance. The supporting cast had done a good job and impressed us with their feel-good performances.
Analysis
The film tries to showcase the present condition of Tamil fishermen in Sri Lanka. How the Tamil diaspora returns to their nation and enjoys with their kith and kin is shown well. A few dialogues are impressive. While focusing on Anthony’s family, the story focuses on another couple, which reduces the importance of the titular character. The music by Ilaiyaraaja is impressive as ever. The visuals are fine. The beauty of Jaffna is wonderfully captured.
