Plot
Dayalan works in a college named Appa Arts and Science College. He is a Tamil lecturer. When other teachers work for money, Dayalan works for his passion. He moves close with students and suggests them essential things for life.The College principal is Singa Perumal. His son is Palani Muthu. Palani Muthu loves Podhum Ponnu and his love is one-sided. When she moves close with other boys, Palani attacks them. The students are wearing a thread in their hands and the thread denotes their caste. Palani is casteist and hence he develops enmity among other caste students. Meanwhile, Podhum Ponnu moves close with a student of another caste. Following this, a lot of problems arise. Meanwhile, Dhayalan is in love with a teacher in the college. He also has to face his love, the torture given by the principal of the college and the casteist students. How he solves the issues forms the rest of the story.
Star Performance
Thambi Ramaiah did his job perfectly. His dialogue delivery and body language are excellent. Samuthirakani and the rest of the stars did what is assigned to them.
Analysis
Sattai was hit movie and it was considered as a different movie in the time of release. Adutha Saattai has similar elements. Samuthirakani comes throughout the movie. From the starting till the end he has been advising the people. The first half of the movie moves slowly and the second half is okayish. A lot of logical loopholes including the sudden change of mind in the casteist students. It is weird to see each and every student in the college is wearing a thread that denotes their caste. When the board displayed Appa Arts And Science College, the books in the principal room shows a different name. The production design designing team had forgotten to notice this.

Verdict
If you love to watch some message-oriented movie then this might suit you. But don't expect the Saattai effect. If you expect more, you might be disappointed.
