Plot
Malar and Kathir are from a remote area near Madurai and they run from their place to escape from Kathir’s family, who are chasing them to kill. The couple reached Chennai to start a new life. When they are getting some hope in their life, Kathir is killed in an accident. Malar comes to know that she is a would-be mother. When she faces a tough time in her life, a couple of auto-rickshaw drivers, her neighbors help her. What are all the issues faced by Malar? How her life takes a turn? The answers to these questions form the rest of the story.
Star Performance
Saya Devi has given out an excellent performance. Sriram and Vishnu had also provided a decent return. Murugadoss is good at comedy.
Analysis
The honor killing is not a new subject, but the treatment is a bit different. Bose Venkat makes his debut as a director and he needs some experience in handling the screenplay. The screenplay should have been brought with some engaging elements. Besides this, the running time of the movie is one of the negative points. If the screenplay had been better along with the performances, then the people would not have cared for the running time.

Kanni Maadam could have been a better movie with an engaging screenplay. However, the initiative by Bose Venkat is appreciable. If you don't have any movies to watch this weekend, you could try Kanni Maadam.
