Ittymaani: Made in China is scripted and directed by Jibi and Joju. Antony Perumbavoor bankrolled the film. “ Mohanlal,” Honey Rose, Radhika Sarathkumar, Aju Varghese, “ K P A C Lalitha,” Vinu Mohan, “ Ashokan,” Sijoy Varghese, Kailash, Hareesh Kanaran, Sekhar Menon, Dharmajan Bolgatty, “ Siddique” and Salim Kumar are in the cast. Kailas Menon composed the songs and Deepak Dev composed the BGM. Shaji Kumar cranked the camera and Sooraj ES edited the film.

The China-born Ittymani is brought up in Kerala’s Kunnankulam, right from his 11 years. Ittymani wanted to get a good name and hence do something different. But, all his efforts to get the attention of the people for getting impressed, go in vain. As he is from China, he has been stamped as a fake person like duplicate Chinese products. What did he do to get out from this trouble? And how did he earn a good name is the rest of the story.

Star Performance

Mohanlal’s performance is impressive, as ever. KPAC Lalitha and Siddique support well in the film and their chemistry with Mohanlal is good.

The debutant director duo had tried a lot to show Mohanlal in a unique role, which we have never seen before. But, they failed to impress the audience. Certain characters are not designed well. The combination scenes between Lalettan, Lalithama and Siddique are good and they are the solace to the audience. The climax speech by Lalettan is not much impressive. What is Honey Rose doing in the movie? Even if her scenes are cut, the film will not lose anything. The weak script didn’t suit Mohanlal.

What’s There?

  • Mohanlal’s presence

What’s Not There?

  • Story and screenplay are weak
  • Unimpressive dialogues and scenes
  • Certain characters are not used

Ittymaani: Made in China is not a Mohanlal material. If you are a Lalettan fan, you could try this film.
