Plot

A French woman comes to Kerala to learn Kathakali (an Indian classical dance form) and falls in love with the Kathakali actor Unni. Later the couple face several challenges in their relationship.

The actors have done their job well. The film will surely be remembered for its music because not only its good but it has elevated the performances of the actors to another level.

Analysis

The film is a musical romance and Indian audience especially is privy to it because most of our movies are musicals. Does this follow that path or try to bring something different? The movie in its entirety is highly mid and very similar to some old Malayalam films. It doesn't have anything new to offer even the screenplay is of the old films where you can easily guess what is going to happen next. The actors have done their job well. Vineeth plays the role of the actor/master with such ease, the rest of the actors have also done a fine job. The cinematography is average. It's not something the audience would care about. The dance form has been shown with sincerity and detail. Aattakatha is a generic romantic musical with great performances, a fantastic soundtrack and a detailed montage of a beloved Indian dance form.
