Madampu Sankaran Namboothiri, commonly known as Madampu Kunjukuttan (his pen name) is a screenplay writer and a renowned Malayalam author. He is among the most prominent writer in Malayalam literature. His short stories, novels, and screenplays talk about the Kerela society.
He was born in Thrissur district, Kerela on 23 June 1941. He studied Hasthyaayurvedam (treatment of elephants) and Sanskrit, also worked as a teacher at Kodungalloor. He was also a priest in a nearby temple to his home. He has also worked in All India Radio, Akashvani.
He has been married to late Savithri Antharjanam and have two daughters with her, Jaseena Madampu and the other one is Haseena Madampu. In the year 200, he won the National Film Award for Best Screenplay for the movie Parinamam directed by P.Venu. He had also received Sanjayan Award in 2014.
Madampu Kunjukuttan died on 11 May 2021 in a hospital in Thrissur. He was infected with COVID-19 after which his condition deteriorated and he died.
