Plot

This part, a significant part of our history is often forgotten by our generation. Everyone forgets how he led this country in the 1965 Indo-Pak war and how mysteriously he died in Tashkent, USSR in 1966, apparently a day after signing the peace treaty.

Analysis
Vivek Agnihotri comes and works brilliantly to direct this awesome thriller of a documentary on his death and the conspiracy of Lal Bahadur Shastri. The movie keeps you hooked with its gripping and engaging portrayal of the story. The plot revolves around a young journalist, Raagini Phule who is tipped by an anonymous informer. The role is beautifully played by Shweta Basu. Her tendency of taking things personally truly amplified her character.
The setting of a panel for debate surrounding this mystery was what truly made this documentary fun to watch and stand out. The roles in the panel were beautifully portrayed by the likes of Pankaj Tripathi, Pallavi Joshi, and Mithun sir. The heat of the debate at moments and moments, the realization of the amoral nature of oneself animated the debates.Â
Watching the film makes you question your reality when you come to know about books like the Mitrokhin Archives. You realize the magnanimous control of Intelligence Agencies like the KGB and CIA. What shocks you more is when they start connecting the dots and you realize how everything was there in front of our eyes but we never questioned it.

What’s Not There?
Verdict
It's a good watch for anyone and entertains you in and out. The movie is well-researched. The Tashkent Files should not be missed at any cost. It is a masterpiece from Vivek Agnihotri.Â
