Indian TV series is incomplete without stories and epics from Indian Mythology. The mythology and beliefs of India are like the soul of Indian culture and society. That is why mythological serials make an impact so successfully on viewers.

1. Ramayan (1986)

Ramanand Sagar has directed so many appreciable serials, and Ramayan is one of the world’s most viewed mythological series. Even, the Limca Book of Records speaks about that. It is one of the best shows on Indian TV. In 2008 & 2012, two new formats were also broadcasted, but the first show is most famous out of three.

2. Mahabharat (1988)

Harish Bhimani has narrated the “Epic Mahabharat” impressively. This mythological drama ran on Indian TV screen from 20 October 1988 to 24 June 1990 on Doordarshan. The pair of father and son; B.R. Chopra and Ravi Chopra have beautifully done the task of production and direction. However, another version of Mahabharat broadcasted in the year 2013, but the older one was the biggest hit of that time and got more publicity.

3. Shri Krishna (1993-1996) (No Of Episodes 201)

The magical spell created by Ramanand Sagar which hypnotize viewers. It was an amazing show about the life of Krishna, and has been gracefully carved on the TV screen. In 1993, it was made public on DD2 (Doordarshan’s Metro Channel). In 1996, the entire series broadcast on DD National. One of the biggest shows of Mid 90’s.

4. Om Namah Shivay (1997) (208 Episodes)

Vikas Rathi writes Hindu Saga in his words. Nine years of hard work of the director Dheeraj Verma made the show complete, flawless and very much appealing. It portrays stories from different sources.

5. Jai Hanuman (1997-2000) (178 Episodes)

The story of the life of Hindu Lord Hanuman was telecast on Indian TV screen in 1997 on DD metro and then in 2008, it was appeared on Sony TV. Sanjay Khan creates and directed the show.

6. Devon Ke Dev Mahadev

One of the best serial aired on Indian Television, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev was the most famous show in the new era. Indian mythological drama Devon Ke Dev Mahadev is about the legends of Lord Shiva (Mahadev). The show was dubbed into many languages and aired on Life OK.

7. Siya Ke Ram

Nikhil Sinha and Dharmesh Shah together directed the show. This time India's Epic Ramayan is came on the small screen from a different perspective. Now, the story focused on the Goddess Sita instead of Lord Ram. Under the banner of Triangle Film Company, The show was launched on Star Plus.

8. Mahima Shani Dev Ki

Sagar art studio produced and created a unique show named Mahima Shani Dev Ki. This show aims to eliminate myths of Indian society about Lord Shani. This educational show composed of the elements from Indian mythology, spirituality, astrology and humanity. Daya Shankar Pandey plays the lead role.

9. Suryaputra Karn

The story revolves around the life of the son of Kunti and the God Sun; Karn. It is the character of the Epic Mahabharat aired on Sony Entertainment Television from 29 June 2015 to 7 August 2016. Gautam Rode plays the major role.

10. Jai Shri Krishna

The Sagar pictures crafted the story of Lord Krishna on Colours TV. It is the recreation of Ramanand Sagar's famous series, “Shri Krishna.” Meghan Jadhav plays the central role while Dhriti Bhatia's innocence as baby Krishna grabbed the attention of viewers.
