Firangi” is an action comedy film that takes place in the British period. The film is scripted and directed by Rajiev Dhingra. Kapil Sharma plays the lead role and is also the producer. The star cast includes Ishita Dutta, Monica Gill, Edward Sonnenblick, Kumud Mishra, Rajesh Sharma, Jameel Khan, Aanjjan Srivastav, Neeta Mohindra, Roshni Walia and Maryam Zakaria. Amitabh Bachchan narrates the story. Jatinder Shah is the music director and Navneet Misser is the cinematographer. Omkhar Nath Bhakri is the editor.

Manga, who dreams of joining the British force, fails to make it in every attempt. He visits a village nearby for his friend’s marriage. There he falls in love with Sargi. As he is a jobless youth, Manga fails to express it to Sargi. Manga has a unique talent for curing the backache with a kick. When he heals the backache of Mark Daniel, the chief of British Army, Mark was pleased with him and provides him a job in the army. As he is happy now that he got a job, Manga is confidently approaching Sargi’s family. But, Sargi’s grandpa rejects this proposal, as Manga is working for the British.  What happened next? Did Manga moved away from Sargi or quit his job? Watch the film in theaters.

Star Performance

Kapil Sharma plays an innocent guy and has done a decent job. Ishita, Edward Sonnenblick and Aanjjan Srivastav have also done their roles perfectly.

Although the film is a comedy caper, a lot of logical mistakes are seen. For example, an Indian queen, who returns from England, boasts as if she is a British princess. Similarly, Ishita and Kapil’s pair looks odd. Ishita looks much younger than the hero. The characterization is not impressive except for Aanjjan Srivastav and Edward Sonnenblick. Many characters could be compared easily with “ Lagaan.”

What’s There?

  • Performance by the stars is good

What’s Not There?

  • Characterization is not good
  • Logical loopholes
  • Kapil and Ishita pair looks odd
  • Length of the film is also a big drawback

For the people, who step in the theaters for Kapil Sharma, this might be a disappointing movie. If you don’t have any expectations, then go to the theaters. However, the film is not a must watch film.
