Neeta Mohindra is an Indian actress. She was born in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Shrimati Neeta Mohindrahas been doing theatre since 1978. Her work is predominant in the Punjabi theatre industry. She has also worked in Hindi, Urdu, and English plays. She obtained her master’s degree in fine arts and a PhD on tribal art forms of southern Rajasthan. Since then, she had been teaching college. She has attended several workshops by Shri M. K. Raina in 1990 to learn new ways of doing theatre, and later worked with him to produce Buhe Bariyan, her much-acclaimed single-actor play. She learnt Kalaripayattu in Kerala and, thereafter, learnt movements of body in Germany under Constanza Macras.
She established her own theatre group in 1992. She has more than thirty major productions in her name like Mother Courage and Raag Desh. She is popular internationally for her workshops in Germany, the United States, and England. Her paintings are also famous worldwide, having more than twenty solo shows of her paintings. She has received several awards from Punjab Government and Punjabi Academy for her work in theatre. As an actress, Shrimati Neeta Mohindra has received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for her contribution.
