Daler Mehndi, also known as Daler Singh, is a well-known singer, song writer, and musician known for his energy filled Punjabi pop songs. He is one of India’s best and earliest pop icons to set the trend of fusing Punjabi folk and pop music together.

He is the man behind the most listened to Indian pop song, ‘Bolo Ta Ra Ra’. Born as Daler Singh, he was born on August 18th in the year 1967 in the city of Patna in Bihar. He was born into a family of musicians and was a prodigy as he made himself recognized at a very young age of 13.

He had run away from his hometown to Gorakhpur seeking to be trained by Late Ustad Rahat Ali Khan Sahab. After forming his group of a musician in the year 1991, he competed and came second in Voice of Asia International Ethnic and Pop Music Contest, which was held in Azia Dynasys in the city of Almaty in Kazakhstan.

He made his debut into the industry with his first album ‘Bolo Ta Ra Ra’ with Magnasound and sold copies of over a whopping 20 million. He made a special appearance alongside Bollywood’s super star Amitabh Bachchan in the film ‘Mrityudata’ in the iconic song, ‘Na Na Na Na Re’ in the year 1997. In the year 1998, he released a song which changed the game for pop songs in all over India, which became an instant sensation in the whole country.

The song ‘Tunak Tunak Tun’ spread internationally and became a famous meme in many social networking platforms. International DJ and EDM music producer, Deadmau5 expressed his eagerness to work with Daler Mehndi in one of his stage shows.

He has released many albums and has sung in over 50 films including songs made by collaborating with musical maestro A. R. Rahman in the film Lakeer in 2004 for the song ‘Nach Le’. He got married to Taranpreet Kaur and is the father of four children namely, Ajit Kaur Mehndi, Gurdeep Mehndi, Rabaab Kaur Mehndi and Prabhjot Kaur Mehndi. He is one of the well known philanthropists in the country known to run a lot of social benefit associations and charity.

Born on 15th December 1970, Babul Supriyo is a talented singer. He is also an actor and politician. At present, he holds the post of Minister of State for Urban Development under the regulation of Government of India. He is also Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation. As a cinema artist, he has worked in over 70 films. Other than Hindi, he has given his voice for Oriya and Bengali films.  The year 2014 saw him entering politics; he got himself associated with the Narendra Modi’s government. He was the youngest minister at that time. Supriyo was initially working in a bank, but quite this coveted job owing to his passion for singing. He has a beautiful voice which to an extent resembles Kumar Sanu, a reputed Bollywood singer. But Supriyo feels that everybody faces an identity crisis.  He has worked in Bengali flicks as a lead hero.  Supriyo is a B. Com Honors graduate.Supriyo had his early days in Uttarpara, Hooghly. He imbibed music skills from his grandfather Banikantha N C Baral who was a composer and vocalist in Bengali. Supriyo’s singing prowess was noticed, and he went on to gain recognition at inter-school and inter-college level. He also performed on a consistent basis in Doordarshan and All India Radio. Supriyo journeyed to Mumbai in 1992 to establish a profession in Bollywood. Supriyo considered this equivalent to climbing a mountain. He took the test of time and eventually his works were observed. Chanda Chamke, Pari Hai Ek Pari and Dil Ne Dil Ko Pukara are some of the hits of this talented singer.  Chander Bari, Ogo Bodhu Shundori, and Hit List are some of the Bengali flicks in which he worked. Supriyo drew inspiration from ace singer Kishore Kumar. Having starting his profession with the name Supriyo, he later changed it to Supriyo. The songs of the 1997 flick Saat Rang Ke Sapne made Supriyo very famous. This flick was directed by Priyadarshan. The number O Piya O Piya from Agni Sakshi was also a success, but it was wrongly thought to be Kumar Sanu’s voice. The album Tere Liye was a successful endeavor of Supriyo.  Kalyanji was instrumental in providing Supriyo with several live shows in India as well as overseas. Since the mid-90s, Supriyo started associating himself with Bollywood and churned out several hits.  ON his personal front, Supriyo is separated from his wife, Rhea. They are blessed with a daughter. Supriyo never minds speaking what he feels in real life.

Debanjana Karmakar

Kolkata-based Debanjana Karmakar is an aspiring singer who has been one of the top 4 contestants in Indian Idol Junior-2013. Her mother is a homemaker and father works in a bank (also a music teacher), had also participated in Zee Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Junior. She had learned music from Jayanta Sarkar, who is also based in Kolkata since her childhood. She used to sing when she was just two years old. Seeing his passion for music, her parents allowed her to take up music seriously and then sent their daughter to give an audition for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa- Junior Bangla, where she was selected as a contestant. She also was a participant In Chote Ustad contest in 2010. She mesmerized singers like Shreya Ghoshal and Suresh Wadkar. She also performed in local stages in Kolkata. She is not just a fan of Lata Mangeshkar, Son Nigam, and Shreya Ghosal,but considers them to be her idol. She is good in classical, semi-musical, folk. Light music that she has highlighted through her singing commotion held in TV realty shows. When she was chosen as top 4 contestants in Indian Idol Junior-2013, several actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Sahid Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, Ram Charan Tej and Priyanka Chopra were present. Karan Wahi and Mandira Bedi were host show, and judges were Shreya Ghoshal and music-duo Vishal-Shekar. Many notable film personalities like Deepika Padukone, Shahrukh Khan, were present to promote their film Chennai Express. She has gone through the biggest musical journey in her life as a contestant, and she is hopeful that her talent and ambition will be fulfilled when she will be given a chance to playback in a film. Music composer Anu Malik, who was a guest on the show, had felt that she was a versatile singer. Many Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha and Deepika Padukone has asked her to sing for their films. Even Rohit Shetty had offered her a film, whether it is in progress, nobody knows. The greatest compliment she received was from Amitabh Bachchan, who was the chief guest of the show (Indian Idol Junior-2013), felt she has a bright future in singing. But then she wants to master the art of Indian classical music. This singer had a glimpse of all Bollywood stars, but her dream is to meet Lata Mangeshkar once.
