Daler Mehndi

Daler Mehndi, also known as Daler Singh, is a well-known singer, song writer, and musician known for his energy filled Punjabi pop songs. He is one of India’s best and earliest pop icons to set the trend of fusing Punjabi folk and pop music together.

He is the man behind the most listened to Indian pop song, ‘Bolo Ta Ra Ra’. Born as Daler Singh, he was born on August 18th in the year 1967 in the city of Patna in Bihar. He was born into a family of musicians and was a prodigy as he made himself recognized at a very young age of 13.

He had run away from his hometown to Gorakhpur seeking to be trained by Late Ustad Rahat Ali Khan Sahab. After forming his group of a musician in the year 1991, he competed and came second in Voice of Asia International Ethnic and Pop Music Contest, which was held in Azia Dynasys in the city of Almaty in Kazakhstan.

He made his debut into the industry with his first album ‘Bolo Ta Ra Ra’ with Magnasound and sold copies of over a whopping 20 million. He has released many albums and has sung in over 50 films including songs made by collaborating with musical maestro A. R. Rahman in the film Lakeer in 2004 for the song ‘Nach Le’.
