Plot

When humanity is scattered around the galaxy, a teenage girl named Cee and her father, Damon, embark on a journey to an alien moon with the hope of finding wealth. They have contracted with an alien group to harvest invaluable gems hidden in the depths of the moon’s hazardous forest. But they are not alone; other ruthless species are roaming the wilderness, and the job quickly turns into a battle for survival. The decision of her father, driven by greed, turns miserably wrong, leading her to come in contact with a man named Ezra. Now, the girl must rely on herself to navigate through this dangerous situation. Did they find the treasure they were looking for? Did Cee trust Ezra? , Did Cee make it out of the planet? The answer is in the rest of the story.

Star Performance

Stellar performances by Sophie Thatcher and Pedro Pascal stunned audiences with their respective roles. It is a fresh, exciting, and challenging character, and both nailed it. Sophie Thatcher, a youthful and vibrant actress, adeptly portrayed a character who effectively concealed and suppressed her emotions. Jay Duplass does his character very well as a dad. The rest of the cast did a decent job.

Analysis

Prospect is a low-budget Western sci-fi movie with a $4 million budget yet, It was crafted with the highest level of big-budget Hollywood craftsmanship, evident in its polish and spectacle. Zeek Earl and Cristopher Caldwell did a fantastic job in directing this movie with a simple yet elegant story and world-building. The music is intense, with close camera claustrophobic shots. The movie is a visual treat and employs its limited resources very wisely, making some intelligent choices. In practical movies with limited visual effects, mainly employing foreground filters and green screen backdrops, a delightful addition is evident. The dialogue was fantastic and distinct and the whole film is honest, practical, and straightforward. Cee and Ezra are an eccentric couple with an unstable connection that gradually grows to respect one another’s hidden abilities.

Verdict

Despite the expectations set by these genre movies, this movie tried to achieve the utmost effort to give their best and they did an excellent job. The performance by the actors was good and a treat to Pedro Pascal fans. The BGM and the visual cinematography had a significant impact on the storytelling of the movie.
