Plot
The film is set in a future time where American citizen are asked to sign an oath promising their allegiance to the government. The film’s protagonist is Chris, played by Ike Barinholtz, an individual who hasn’t signed the oath while his entire family, including his wife Kai, played by Tiffany Haddish has done so. On Thanksgiving, Chris and Kai hold a dinner party for their entire family, and he tries to control himself from indulging in political conversations. But his plans go awry when two governmental agents show up at their home and question Chris about his reluctance to sign the oath. The film follows their chaotic Thanksgiving dinner as Chris attempts to justify his action to his family.
Star Performance
Ike Barinholtz and Billy Magnussen give good performances in the movie. Tiffany Haddish’s character, however, is so underdeveloped that it restrains her from showing her comedic and acting prowess.
