Plot

In the most modern stage of development, people, known as "representatives" live under the Collective, the administration observes the activities of the people. Silas, a citizen, works as an artist for Atmos. Returning home one night, he sees two members of the city under the custody of official authorities and is reminded of Switched-On Syndrome (SOS), a multi-organized "medicine" that reestablishes human feelings. Sufferers who don't attempt suicide reach the fourth level and get confined to the Defective Emotional Neuropathy Facility, which nobody leaves. The following day at work a member is found dead and the specialists coldly break down the occasion.

Silas is the evidence to see Nia having an emotional up and down. Later in a group meeting, he again observes Nia having double-cross feeling. Leonard presents Silas' substitution to Nia the following day. During the evening, Jonas welcomes Silas for a walk and afterward reveals that he is a secret worker from an organization and could help him out. Discouraged, Silas goes home and progresses toward becoming disheartened. They at that point help her to fake death by exchanging personalities with Eva, so Eva is viewed as alive, and Nia is viewed as dead.

Silas discovers that Bess, Jonas, and Gilead were not trustworthy anymore and the precautions were given by Max. He goes to the DEN where they reveal to him that Nia has passed on. Thus, he examines suicide on a housetop where he gets the cure, and comes back and discovers Nia alive and that his treatment for SOS was pointless. He recalls her, having adored her and their escape design, however, doesn't recollect feeling it. The following morning Nia wakes up in sorrow. Silas uncovers the cure has not deleted his affections for Nia.
