Plot

Ellen, a youngster, prays for everyone’s well-being. She was attacked by a mysterious creature, which left her shiver for some time and moved away. After a few years, she got married to Thomas, a solicitor. He is a real-estate agent, too. They live in Germany. For a business deal, Thomas moves to Transylvania. When Ellen tells him about her dream in the past, he convinces her and leaves with his friend’s family. When he visits Transylvania to sell a castle, the owner welcomes him. Soon, Thomas finds something mysterious in the place. When Thomas accidentally gets a cut in his finger while eating, the castle owner mesmerizes Thomas and sucks his blood. After a couple of incidents that threatened his life, Thomas feels that Ellen’s life is in danger. So, he tried to escape from the castle and jump from the window, but got hurt severely. What happened next? Was he saved? Was he able to save Ellen? The rest of the film speaks about Ellen and Thomas’s connection with Transylvania Castle.

Star Performance

Lily’s performance is fantastic. She expresses well in the haunting and heart-warming scenes. Nicholas Hoult did his job well. He expresses his fear well in the scenes, when he tries to escape from the castle. Bill Skarsgard has gone overboard, which is a little odd.

Analysis

The screenplay and the execution are excellent. The narration is neat, explaining the depth of the story. The production designers should be definitely appreciated for the dark-themed sets and the weird properties. The costumes are different. A pat to the costume designers! They make the audience experience the exact era in which the story is set to happen. The makers brought the eerie feelings not only with the help of music but the sets and the facial expressions of the stars. The cast fits well in the role; yet, Bill Skarsgard seems to be a miscast. The visuals, editing, and the BGM are fantastic.

What’s There?

  • The screenplay and execution should be appreciated
  • The production designers and costume designers have done a great job
  • The leads have done a good job

What’s Not There?

  • The antagonist should have performed better

Verdict

Nosferatu will definitely impress the horror thriller lovers. Except for some minor faults, the film is impressive to watch at least once!
