Chithra,” the Nightingale of the south and had crooned in almost all the popular languages in India including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Oriya, Tulu, Rajasthani, Sanskrit, Urdu, Badaga and the foreign languages Latin, Malay, Sinhalese, Arabic, French and English. She started her career at the age of 16. Chithra’s Malayalam debut came in the year 1979 and she was introduced by MG Radhakrishnan.
