Chotta Mumbai Continues To Entertain The Masses

18 years later, Vasco Da Gama aka Thala is back to entertain the masses.

Mohanlal’s comedy drama Chotta Mumbai released in a select few theaters in Kerala. The movie initially released in 2007, and was directed by Anwar Rasheed, who later became famous with movies like Ustad Hotel, Trance etc. The movie also starred an ensemble cast of Kalabhavan Mani, Siddique, Vinayakan etc.

Mohanlal is currently on a roll this year. He began the year on a wobbly note with L2: Empuraan, the sequel to the 2019 political thriller Lucifer. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the movie starred Mohanlal in the lead role of Khureshi Abram aka Stephen Nedumpally, alongside an ensemble cast of Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Abhimanyu Singh etc. in prominent roles. However, the film was less in the news for the performances of Mohanlal and Prithviraj, and more for its one sided treatment to the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Though the film managed to recover its costs, it only earned 262 crores worldwide over a budget of 180 crores. However, Mohanlal recovered quickly with the crime thriller Thudarum, which turned out to be one of the biggest hits domestically after Manjummel Boys.
