Indian Character Downplayed - The Martian Slammed!

“The Martian” is running successfully across the globe. But, it is slammed by the Asian - American advocacy group for downplaying the Indian and Korean races. The movie is the adaptation of the novel by Andy Weir. In the novel, NASA’s director is Dr. Venkat Kapoor, an Indian, who follows Hinduism. But in the movie, the character’s name has been changed to Vincent Kapoor and it was played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. The character says his father is a Hindu and his mother, a Baptist. The Baptist mother is said to be a Black. The Korean- American character played by the Caucasian Mackenzie Davis is Mindy Park. Both these roles are crucial in this movie and they both are said to be downplayed. Now, this created a great setback to the movie.
