Suresh Gopi-Parthipan starrer is easily the best courtroom drama ever in Malayalam. The Madhav Ramadasan directorial was fully shot inside a single room, and dealt with a topic rarely discussed in Malayalam cinema-discrimination against Dalits. Parthipan played a Dalit soldier who is being court-martialled for the murder of an officer, and Suresh Gopi plays an army officer who defends the convict.

Starring Mammootty, and directed by K.Madhu, Oru Abhibhashakante Case Diary was a court drama that revolved around a rape and murder case. Mammootty plays a public prosecutor, who finds anomalies in the investigation, and take up the convict’s defence.
5. Chintamani Kola Case(2006)
This movie had Suresh Gopi in the lead, along with Bhavana. This Shaji Kailas directorial is considered one of the best legal thrillers in Malayalam. The plot revolved around a lawyer who has a successful career, but whose winning clients die in mysterious circumstances.
6. Vakkaalathu Narayanankutty(2001)
Directed by T.K Rajeev Kumar, this comedy entertainer had Jayaram and Manya playing lead roles. Jayaram’s role as a social worker, who files a court case against every social injustice he encounters, is still considered one of his best. How his over commitment lands him in trouble, forms the crux of the story.
This Joshiy movie had an ensemble cast, including Mammootty, Jayaram, Vikram, Suresh Gopi, and
Tiger Prabhakar. One of the best thrillers by Mammootty, the movie’s highlight was the cat-and-mouse game Prabhakar plays with Mammootty, in order to escape the noose.

Directed by V.M Vinu,Yes Your Honour was the tale of a small-time lawyer standing up to the top brass of the society to win compensation and justice for a sexually exploited woman. The Sreenivasan starrer depicted the attitude the society takes against someone who chooses the right side. The movie also had Padmapriya and Innocent playing important roles.
9. Punyalan Agarbattis(2013)
This satire starring Jayasurya and
Nyla Usha was directed by
Ranjith Sankar, and narrated the story of the protagonist’s business venture-agarbattis from elephant dung. The movie had a gem of a climax, with the hero winning the hilarious legal battle over the ownership of the elephant dung.

Directed by Shafi, Make-up man dealt with the family court. With Jayaram and Sheela in lead roles, the movie shows how relationships are up for a toss in the cinema industry. The film portrays the hierarchy and preferential treatments that are involved in the industry and tells how this leads to a family rift.
