Tamilisai Soundararajan was born in Agasteeswaram, Kumari Mangalam in Kanyakumari district on 2nd June 1961. She is a gynecologist by profession. Tamilisai has got the special training in fetal therapy and sonology in Canada. She completed her MBBS in Madras University and DGO in Dr. MGR Medical University in Chennai. Tamilisai is from a huge political background. Her father Kumari Anandan is the former Tamilnadu Congress Committee leader and the former Member of Parliament from Nagercoil constituency. Tamilisai’s mother Krishnakumari is a housewife. Her paternal uncle H Vasantha Kumar is also a Member of Legislative Assembly and he also belongs to Congress party. Although her father and uncle belong to Congress party, Tamilisai developed an attraction towards Bharatiya Janata Party, which is one of the biggest rivals to Congress. At present Tamilisai is the Tamilnadu BJP leader and she has been deeply involved in developing the party in TN. Although she is from BJP, she hadn’t show hatred to any other politicians and had been addressing every politician as her brother and sister.

Her entry into the politics was not that easy. As she is from the political family, she has developed the interest in politics during her college days. She had been the student leader while doing her MBBS in Madras University. In 1999, she served in BJP as the South Chennai District Medical Wing's Secretary. In 2001, she had been working as the State General Secretary, Medical Wing. In the year 2005, she worked as the co-convener and in 2007, she had been the State General Secretary. She was powered up as the State Vice President of BJP in 2010 and had been upgraded to National Secretary in 2013. Her participation is the Tamil channels in the political debates made her popular among the people. Tamilisai had contested in the Parliamentary elections twice but failed to get the MP seat. Tamilisai has worked as an assistant professor in Sri Ramachandra Medical College for five years. 

Tamilisai is married to Dr. P Soundararajan, who has been the professor and the Head of the Department of Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation in Sri Ramachandra Medical College. Tamilisai – Soundararajan has a son named Suganathan. Tamilisai owns a dialysis center and a medical diagnostic center.
