Krishnasamy, born as K.Krishnasamy on 3rd April 1952 to Sri Karuppusamy Kudumban, and Thamarai Ammal, is a well-known politician from Tamil Nadu. He is originally from Udumalaipettai of Tamil Nadu state. Initially, he completed his education at Government Higher Secondary School, Poolavadi, and joined Madurai Medical College for an MBBS degree. He is also the founder of the cased based party named as “Puthiya Tamilagam” established in the year 1997. He is also a physician by profession and married to Dr. Chandrika Krishnasamy, with whom he has two children, namely Sangeetha Krishnasamy and Shyam Krishnasamy, who are also doctors by profession. He has also served as the Member of Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu state for two times. Once in the year 1996, he was elected as the Member Legislative from Janata Dal and the second time was he was elected in the year 2011, when his party formed an alliance with the ADMK Party in Tamil Nadu.
He is not just a known figure in politics but also for his strong voice on various sensitive issues of the state. In the year 2019, he strongly defended the three-language policy and also supported the demand regarding ‘Hindi’ as a third language for the students of Tamil Nadu. He has always been a huge supporter and one of the strong voices in the state of Tamil Nadu who made several efforts to remove the community of Devendra Kula Vellalars from the list of scheduled castes. In the year 2014, his party Puthiya Tamilagam decided to form an alliance with the DMK party as a member of the Democratic Progressive alliance, where it was able to contest only for the Tenkasi constituency, still, later it lost the elections by 161,774 votes to M. Vansanthi of AIDMK party. Again 2019 was a boon for Krishnasamy, as it joined hands with the AIADMK-BJB-PMK alliance formed in Tamil Nadu, where his party was given a chance to stand in elections from one constituency.
