Edappadi K Palaniswami is an Indian Politician. He is the current Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He took office in the year 2017. He is a member of the AIDMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) political party and has thirty Members of Legislative (MLA) in his cabinet.

He is the MLA from Edapadi in Salem district. In his political career, Edappadi has served as Minister for Highways & Minor Ports in Tamil Nadu Government and has proved out to be victorious in four Tamil Nadu assembly elections. He won elections in 1989, 1991, 2011 and 2016.

He represented Edappadi in Salem district on all occasions. However, he lost in the year 2004 and 2009. Edappadi K Palaniswami took birth in Siluvam Palayam, Salem District in Tamil Nadu on 12th May 1954. His father Mr. Karuppa Gounder was a marginal farmer while his mother Thavasi Ammal was a housewife. Palaniswami is married to P. Radha who is an agriculturalist. His son Mithun acts as a General Manager in Sriram IT Park.

Palaniswami lives with his family in Chennai. The 13th CM of the state started his political career in 1974. He went to the Sri Vasavi College and opted to do B.Sc. but could not complete it. Later, he joined AIDMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) and swore allegiance to its head Jayalalithaa. In the year 1989, Palaniswami contested in Assembly elections for the first time. She represented his district of Salem and won the Legislative seat.

It was the year in which AIDMK lost only by four seats. AIDMK led by Jayalalitha and DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) led by late M. Karunanidhi always had tight competition in Tamil Nadu elections. In 1991, Palaniswami again contested for elections and won it. It was the year in which the AIDMK and Congress alliance formed the government.

Jayalalitha got appointed as the CM for the first time. Within five years AIDMK and Jayalalitha lost its power. In 1996, AIDMK only secured four seats. However, from 1998 to early 2000s, AIDMK won the trust of the people, and Jayalalitha again became the CM. With ups and downs in AIMDK, Palaniswami also faced the same and lost the elections in 2004 and 2009. In 2014, she got convicted in a disproportionate assets case and got sentenced to four years in jail. Panneerselvam replaced Jayalalitha, but soon he was succeeded by Palaniswami.

Muthuvel Karunanidhi Kanimozhi is a Tamil politician. Besides being a politician she is also a poet and journalist. She is a member of parliament and represents Tamil Nadu in its Upper house Rajya Sabha. Kanimozhi belongs to the political party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam popularly known as DMK. Born on 5th January 1968 in Madras, Tamil Nadu Kanimohzi is the daughter of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. Karunanidhi and RajuthiArmal, Karunanidhi's third wife. Currently residing in Chennai she was married to Athiban Bose in 1989 who is a businessman from Sivakasi later on in 1997 she married G. Aravindaan who is the writer based in Singapore. She also has a son A AAdithyan. She has four brothers who are M K Stalin, M K Alagiri, M K Muthu and M K Tamilarasu and a sister Selvi. Two of her brothers are a politician while the other two work in Tamil film industry. Kanimozhi did his schooling from Presentation Convent, Church Park, Chennai, and then went to Ethiraj College for Women, Madras University to complete her graduation. She did Masters in Economics in 1994. Before starting her career as a politician, she worked as a journalist and an editor of a Tamil weekly magazine Kungumam features editor of Tamil Murasu and sub-editor of The Hindu. She is also a poet and writes a poem in the Tamil language. Her literary works include Agathinai, Paavaigal, Karuvasai Vaasanai, Karukkum Marudhaani and Sigarangalil Uraikiradhu Kaalam. These were also translated into Malayalam, Kannada, English and Telugu languages. Kanimozhi is the member of DMK party where she is the chief of DMK's art, literature and rationalism wing. In May 2007, she was nominated as one of the candidates of Rajya Sabha by DMK and took the oath as the member in July 2013. She is known for her efforts in organizing job fairs for the young generation belonging to the small cities and towns. These job fairs have provided jobs to about 133000 people spread across 9 districts. She has also supported different issues related to pan-Tamil. She actively participates and has spoken about women empowerment issues and held several programs for the same. She has organized seminars for the Welfare of differently abled and transgender and also founded a portal which supports free speech. Besides work in favor of people and party Kanimozhi has also been concerning related to cheating, dishonesty, charge related to false evidence, criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, forgery, search related to use of forged documents or electronic record and has also been arrested in a 2G spectrum case.


Tamilisai Soundararajan

Tamilisai Soundararajan was born in Agasteeswaram, Kumari Mangalam in Kanyakumari district on 2nd June 1961. She is a gynecologist by profession. Tamilisai has got the special training in fetal therapy and sonology in Canada. She completed her MBBS in Madras University and DGO in Dr. MGR Medical University in Chennai. Tamilisai is from a huge political background. Her father Kumari Anandan is the former Tamilnadu Congress Committee leader and the former Member of Parliament from Nagercoil constituency. Tamilisai’s mother Krishnakumari is a housewife. Her paternal uncle H Vasantha Kumar is also a Member of Legislative Assembly and he also belongs to Congress party. Tamil cinema actor Vijay Vasanth is Tamilisai's cousin. Although her father and uncle belong to Congress party, Tamilisai developed an attraction towards Bharatiya Janata Party, which is one of the biggest rivals to Congress. At present Tamilisai is the Tamilnadu BJP leader and she has been deeply involved in developing the party in TN. Although she is from BJP, she hadn’t show hatred to any other politicians and had been addressing every politician as her brother and sister.  Her entry into the politics was not that easy. As she is from the political family, she has developed the interest in politics during her college days. She had been the student leader while doing her MBBS in Madras University. In 1999, she served in BJP as the South Chennai District Medical Wing's Secretary. In 2001, she had been working as the State General Secretary, Medical Wing. In the year 2005, she worked as the co-convener and in 2007, she had been the State General Secretary. She was powered up as the State Vice President of BJP in 2010 and had been upgraded to National Secretary in 2013. Her participation is the Tamil channels in the political debates made her popular among the people. Tamilisai had contested in the Parliamentary elections twice but failed to get the MP seat. Tamilisai has worked as an assistant professor in Sri Ramachandra Medical College for five years.  Tamilisai is married to Dr. P Soundararajan, who has been the professor and the Head of the Department of Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation in Sri Ramachandra Medical College. Tamilisai – Soundararajan has a son named Suganathan. Tamilisai owns a dialysis center and a medical diagnostic center.
