Andimuthu Raja is an Indian politician from Tamil Nadu. He was born on 26-10-1963 in Perambalur, Tamil Nadu, India. He has a brother named Andimuthu Kaliaperumal and He is married to M.A. Parameshwari and has one daughter Mayuri in his family. He is a post-graduate in Law from Government Law College, Tiruchirapalli.
He belongs to a Dalit community and involved in student politics. He started his career in politics and became the senior leader and four-time Member of Parliament of DMK. Then in the year 1996, he was elected to Lok Sabha for the first time from Perambalur and was reelected in 1999 and 2004 and went to Lok Sabha from Nilgiris in 2009.
He has served as the Minister of State for Rural Development from 1996 to 2000, Minister of State Health and Family Welfare from 2000 to 2004 and Environmental and Forest Minister from 2004 to 2007.
He was accused as a Communication and Information Technology Minister in May 2007 in for conspiring the 2G Spectrum Scam along with his predecessor Dayanidhi Maran and party members. They were arrested in Feb2, 2011 and were on 15-month judicial custody. The further allegations forced him to resign on November 14, 2010.
