Durai Murugan is an Indian politician from the south. He was born on 1 July 1938. He is an Indian lawyer by profession and later joined politician. He has graduated in MA and BL and is an Advocate by profession. He was Principal Secretary and Deputy General secretary for DMK and was first elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly in 1971 and has been elected nine times after that.
He was elected from the Katpadi constituency in 2006. After the 2006 assembly elections, he was appointed Minister for Public Works in the Government of Tamil Nadu. Then He was divested of the Public Works Department portfolio on 13 July 2009. He was also re-elected from the Katpadi constituency in the elections of 2016. He currently lives in Kotturpuram, Chennai.
