Meesai Murugesan was a dedicated artist in the Tamil film industry. He was veteran musician and actor, and his experience in them can be seen to be spanned over hundreds of films. This legendary man was born on 13th January 1930. Sadly, he passed away on 8th November 2014. During his active years, he had made many fabulous contributions to the industry. No one can put aside his contributions to the industry. He started off by playing the Kottankuchi (coconut shell) instrument alongside great musicians like K. P. Sundarambal, M. K. T. Bhagavathar, T. M. Soundararajan and Seerkazhi Govindarajan. He had played and learned from these exceptional musicians, and in the process brought out some great music, melodies to everyone's ears. He was an expert in creating shrill sound effects, footfall sounds of horses, etc.

He has also played in over thousands of stages, as a one – man band “Apoorva Thalavathiyangal”. He has played internationally, in Europe, United States of America (USA), Canada and Russia. People loved him, everywhere he went. And he returned this love to them through his melodious music. Apart from the instrumental music, he has also seen to take part in Tamil movies, taking up small roles. It was due to one such appearance that he got the name “Meesai Murugesan.” In the film “Sugamana Ragangal”, he was spotted with a rather heavy mustache.This was his debut film, which was released in the year 1985. And thus, he became to be known as ‘Meesai Murugesan.' He has further done few more films.
