Kumaresh Kamalakannan is a Malaysian Tamil playback singer, musician and music composer. He was born on 2nd July 1994 in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. He is known for the Malaysian Tamil films Mayangaathey and Geethayin Raadhai, and also for winning the Superstars Endrum 16’. Kumaresh is a descendant of the Indian migrants who moved to Malaysia during the British era. He is the grandson of the legendary Malaysian Tamil singer Isaithendral T. N. Mariappan. Kumaresh was born in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. He currently lives in the Puchong town in the Petaling district in Selangor in Malaysia.

He attended school in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Menjalara in Kepong in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. He graduated from the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Cyberjaya in Selangor in Malaysia. He formed the MIDAS Touch productions company, which was later renamed MIDAS the Industry, with his college friends in 2013. They started with short films, skits and sketches, and now they also work in advertisements, documentaries, corporate videos, launch previews, event videos, music videos, commercials and many other things.

Their very first short film was Tight Slap. It was directed by Tharaneetharan Retnamurthi. Kumaresh was the editor and assistant director of the short movie. He also played the role of Vivek and the voice of the Shop Keeper. Their first skit was Final Date written, directed and co-edited by Tharaneetharan, Kumaresh was the assistant director and co-editor. Their next short movie was Maya written, edited and directed by Kumaresh himself. Kumaresh also played the role of younger Pradeep.

Kumaresh made his film debut with the Malaysian Tamil movie Mayangaathey directed, co-produced and co-starred by C. Kumaresan. The romantic comedy horror hit the screens on 9th June 2016. Kumaresh sang the song Yean Oru Murai alongside Neroshen Thanaseharan and Datin Shree Shaila V. Kumaresh then worked in the Malaysian Tamil film Geethayin Raadhai directed, written and co-starred by Shalini Balasundaram. The romantic comedy hit the screens on 22nd September 2016. Kumaresh sang the songs Ennai Kollathey with Keshvini Sarahanan, and Un Kural with Swarna Deepan Chakravarthy. Ennai Kollathey crossed more than 1.5 million hits after its release.

Kumaresh participated in the reality show Superstar Endrum 16’ which aired on Astro Vinmeen HD, Astro Vaanavil and Astro on the Go. He won the Grand Finale of the singing tournament on 20th November 2016. Kumaresh collaborated with first runner-up Naarayini Balasubramaniam to create the Poori & Pasta Act One: Naane Varugiraen Mashup Cover which was published on Youtube on 15th February 2017. His latest project is the upcoming short film Mounam Pessum Varthaigal written and directed by Viknish Lokarag Asokan. In this, he is the music composer.

Thenisai Chellappa

  Tamil folk music exponent Chinnapillai Thavasi Kannu Chellappa, better known as `Thenisai' Chellappa, is no ordinary singer but is well known for releasing the mood of Tamil village culture in his voice. He is well known as a staunch supporter of pro-LTTE activities supporting ‘Eelam’ issues and through his voice, he is one who has always lifted his emotions that to the level of freedom songs. This folk singer is known for composing songs and music about concerns and issues of marginalized people. "Thenisai" Chellappa is remembered for the song ‘Innum Ethanai Kaalam’ from the movie ’49-O’ which was composed by K and lyrics was penned by Yugabharathi. Also, he has released many private albums such as Eelam Song ‘Paddini Kidanthu’. It is said that the singer had done more than 60 'kutcheris' to spread awareness for the song ‘Innum Ethanai Kaalam’ and even felt that this song will be appreciated by Tamilians across the globe. This singer often tours various locations across the globe such as Europe, London to propagate Tamil folk songs that bleed the state of Tamil Nadu. ‘Ethanai Kaalam Varai’ song is from the film 49-O starring Goundamani. The singer was grateful to film director P. Arokiyadoss and producer Dr. L. Sivabalan. Since the music composer K was born in Nagapattinam, he felt Thenisai Chellappa would be the right person to give right vocal for ‘Innum Ethanai Kaalam’ which had a village background and captured the melody of villager’s mood throughout the songs. The lyrics of the song was as beautiful as the composition. This singer's goal is to retain the Tamil culture which the people of Tamil Nadu aims for as it represents the intention of a culture.
