Anuradha Sridhar is a musician and violinist who hails from a great lineage of Lalgudi musicians. She is the daughter of the great musician Lalgudi Brahmanandam and the granddaughter of the legendary composer Sri Lalgudi Gopala Iyer. Anuradha Sridhar was born into a family of musicians and began her lesson in music at the very young age of three under the tutelage of her mother. Her mother, being a musician, taught music with great intensity and aptness. She discloses that it was her mother who brought her into the world of music. She has done several concerts as a child with her mother, which helped her to improve her expertise in classical music, but her first formal concert was with Sri T.K. Murthy, who is a great mridangam player at "Bala Subramania Sangeetha Sabha".
In 1987, she moved to America to pursue an MBA without surrendering her passion for music. In 1989, she started "Trinity Centre for Music", a music school in California. It all started with three students. Today, there are hundreds of students studying music. Most of them are established, Musicians and composers. Her brother, Sriram Brahmanandam, was her greatest support in building this institution. Both of them together found "Solfa Creations", a multimedia software that helps propagate the importance of Carnatic music. She has done extensive research on different "Ragas" formulated by various ancient musicians and has formulated and composed different "Pallavi's" and "Varnas".
Her major aim was to spread awareness about Carnatic music all over the world. She gave a lot of lectures on Indian music in different countries, namely New Zealand, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, etc. Anuradha Sridhar’s recent composition, "Su-Samskrutham", a dance drama, was a huge hit and received tonnes of appreciation. She is considered an epitome of music who brightens the lamp of the Lalgudi musical heritage.
