The famous south Indian film composer, singer, music director, musician, a mesmerizing keyboard and piano artist and many more was born in Tamil Nadu, India on January 29, 1973. He has now settled down in Chennai, the great peak city of Tamil Nadu. He is known to have made a debut film as a composer in his very own movie in the year 1996 called 'Alexander'. This film is known to have touched the peak of popularity and has won hearts of many music lovers, and it was one of the critically as well commercially acclaimed films.

EARLY LIFE

Karthik Raja was born in a great musical family and is known to acquired the best of all the music skills. His father being a great renowned, respected and celebrated musician of India, Mastro ' Ilayaraja'. His family consists of a brother and a sister who both are also known to have built a huge reputation in the film industry. Yuvan Shankar Raja, his brother, is a playback singer as well as a great music director. His sister, ' Bhavatharini', has also worked with him in many films and notable music assignments. Karthik Raja has done this schooling in St. Bede's school, located in Chennai and holds a graduation degree from the Loyola College, Chennai. Karthik Raja was married happily at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.

CAREER

As he was born in the faculty with heavy musical background and reputation, he got exposure into the musical arena at a very young age. In his young age, he would often visit along with his father during the music composition and to recording studios as well. Although his father was a classical singer, Karthik Raja has completed his formal education of music in a western sphere from the Trinity school of music. He is also known to have been affiliated the respected piano graduation from Jacob John. He is well versed both in western as well as in Carnatic music, from T. V. Gopalakrishnan and the great Malayalam music composer V. Dakshinmoorthy.

ACHIEVEMENTS

He is recognized for his composition in his movie "Alexander," then followed by the movie, " Manikyam." He played the keyboard out tracks for many movies such as " Nayagan", which also earned him popularity. He then holds record a few renowned blockbuster which consists of "Ullasam," very soon followed by "Naam Iruvar Nammaku Iruvar." He is also known to have performed and acted in many Hindi movies with Grahan, which awarded him the R. D. Burman Award for the best new talent in 1998. He was even awarded Cinema Express Awards as a Best music director award for the movie Dumm Dumm Dumm.

He graduated from Saint Bede’s School in Chennai. He got married to Raja Rajeswari on 8 June 2001. Grown up in a family of musicians made him somehow lead towards the same way. He is the son of legendary musician ‘IIayaraja’. His siblings also work in Tamil films as music directors and playback singers. He got exposure at a very early stage. He took training from Trinity School of Music in western classical music. He has been considered as one of the youngest music composers in the Kollywood Industry. He also attained professional training in Carnatic music from Gopalakrishan and Dakshinmoorthy. His list of achievements is endless. He played piano for the soundtrack of the movie ‘Nayagan’.

At the age of 13, he started playing keyboard and also played for the song Kanukkum from the Tamil movie “Ninaikka Therinda Maname” in the year 1987. He used to accompany his father to the studios for recording. He also made some background music for the TV series Bible. He also composed music for three Hindi movies. He received Best Music Director award in 2001 for the movie “ Dum Dum Dum”. Karthik Raja worked with famous Hindi producers and actors namely Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan and much more. In the year 2000, he got married to Raja Rajeswari at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Raja won the ‘R. D. Barman’ award for the Best New Talent for the Hindi film ‘Graham’. With his non-stop hard working skills, he has reached a level of fame and today has become a very successful person in his field. M S Viswanathan

M.S.Viswanathan, who is fondly known as M.S.V., was born in Palakkad. Manayangth Subramanian Viswanathan is a famous Music Composer, Singer, and Actor. This celebrated Musician has been given the title ‘MellisaiMannar’ by the legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan. He has created music for Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam Films. Predominantly, M.S.V has composed for South Indian movies. Recently in the year 2012, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu had granted the title ‘ThiraiulagaIsaiChakravarthy’ on M.S.Vfor his formidable stint in the music field. M.S.V came into the cine field with the passion for acting and singing. He was not successful in his initial days that is in the period of 1940s. He started his career by playing small roles in dramas. T.R. Papa, a well-known music director in that time period, made M.S.V the gofer for the music troupe of S.V Venkatraman, in the year 1942. He then became a member in the music band of C.R. Subburaman, as a Harmonium player. T. K. Ramamurthy and T. G. Lingappawas the prime Violinist in that troupe. It was here in this troupe, the popular duo Viswanathan-Ramamurthy was formed. C.R. Subburaman died startlingly, in the year 1952. His incomplete composition for a film was carried on by the Viswanathan- Ramamoorthy duo. They both worked on the films- Devdas, Chandrani, Marumagal. The songs were magical and were a blockbuster. M.S.V’s talent was identified and appreciated by the acclaimed actor M.G. Ramachandran after he composed the songs for his movie Genova. These two skillful music Directors have composed music for over a hundred films, within the period-1952 to 1965. The duo’s last outing was for the film Aayirathil Oruvan, in the year 1965. M.S. Viswanathan was a trend setter in the field of music. He mixed Indian Classical and Hindustani music with Western beats and gave a feet tapping number. His timely comedy in the films Kaathala Kaathala and Kadhal Mannan, in which he acted, were critically acclaimed. He was conferred with the Doctorate title by Sathyabama University, in the year 2006. He was given the Kalaimamani title by the State Government. M.S.V passed away on July 14, 2015, due to Kidney Cancer. He is survived by his four sons and three daughters.
