T M Krishna is an Indian Writer and Music Composer, popularly known all over the country for highlighting a number of social issues as an activist apart from singing. He was born on 22nd January 1976 to T.M. Ranghachari and Prema Rangachari, a Tamil Brahmin family. Brought up in Chennai, Krishna graduated from Vivekananda College, Madras University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
He happens to be the grandnephew of T.T. Krishnamachari, the founder of Madras Music Academy and a Congress politician. During the initial stages of his singing career, he trained with musicians like Bhagavathula Seetharama Sharma, Chingleput Ranganathan, and Semmagudi Srinivasa Iyer.
He sang in a concert for the first time at the age of 12 at the Spirit of Youth Series, Music Academy, Chennai. Krishna always looks forward to leaving a social message through his music. Over the years, he has been performing in many festivals and places of importance, like John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Lincon Center for the Performing Arts, Esplanade- Theatres on the Bay, National Center for Performing Arts, India, etc.
As an activist, Krishna has written some revolutionary books like MS understood (2017), Voices Within (2007), Reshaping Art (2018), etc. He also writes frequently for newspapers like The Hindu, The Hindustan Times, etc.
