She was born in June to Rameshbhai Patel and Niruben Patel. As a student, Meghna was very bright. She completed her Higher Secondary Education from Vidhya Vikas School and later got her Bachelor's degree in Commerce B.COM from M. S. University, Vadodara. From her infant years, she had a keen interest in dancing.

Her passion for dance even led her to open a dance academy for kids. Kalamegh Dance Academy for kids is located in Vadodara where she stayed before coming to Mumbai. She has performed as a dancer in over thousand shows, in both India and abroad.

She started her career as an actor with Bhojpuri cinema. She made her debut with the Bhojpuri film, Raja Thakur. The film was a box office hit and gained Meghna fame in Bhojpuri films. She went on to do some other Bhojpuri films which include, Ghar aaja pardeshi, and Hamaar Gaon Hamaar Desh.

In 2008, the actress featured in a music video called Golden Babe. The 2009 film Aishwarya marked Meghna's entry in the Bollywood. Her last Bollywood project was the 2014 released, Luv... Phir Kabhi. The year 2014 involved a major controversy over the actress.
