S Ve Shekher is a Tamil film actor and playwright, popular for his slapstick style of humor and social work initiatives. His career started in the year 1974 through a stage play, and he made his way in Kollywood by being a photographer and shot for film “Mogham”. Later he got a chance in a role provided by K. Balachander, the director in the ‘ Ninaithale Inikkum’ film followed by a full role in Varumayin Niram Sivappu.

He shot for around ninety-six Tamil films before moving into television and delivered amazing performance in ‘ Nam Kudumbam’ and ‘ Vanna Kolangal’. His TV show ‘Vanna Kolangal’ created so much buzz and sensation amongst the viewers that it was re-telecasted eight times on channel Doordarshan. Shekhar holds a Post-diploma in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and diploma in Mechanical Engineering. He got married to the daughter of music composer G. Ramanathan, Uma. He has two children of which his daughter is named as Anuradha and son is named as Ashwin Shekhar, who is also an actor in the Tamil film industry.

Shekhar had been a member and leader of famous drama troupe Mylapore Boys. He later became chairperson and president of this troupe. He along with his team gave stiff competition to another famous drama troupe of Madras. As he is an expert with his theatrical skills, he won an award for Best All India Programme Producer from Radio and Television Advertisers and Producers Association (RAPA) for four years in a row. His work for being a photographer made him popular for providing covers to famous Tamil magazines.

When he got success in his drama tour of Singapore in the year 1974, he formed another drama troupe named Natakhapriya, which has delivered around 6200 shows and frequently tours in foreign countries like USA, Malaysia, UAE, South Korea, Europe, and Singapore. He holds the achievement of being in Limca Book of Records for being an amazing stage artist, which is credited to his fellow artists and audience by him. He is also adjudged as “The Best Comedian” by The Mylapore Academy for three back-to-back years in a row. He is labelled as the Best Comedian of 1990s by Wisdom Magazine and also honored as Outstanding Youth by the Jaycees. He also got honored with some prestigious awards like Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram's Kalai Maamani Award, state’s Kalaivanar Award, and Award for Best Drama Troupe. He was also appointed as one of the members of Central Board of Film Certification in the year 2015. Besides his entertainment career he has his career in politics too. S. V. Shekher is a former member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He was elected as AIADMK candidate from Mylapore in 2006 elections. He was expelled from AIADMK for his anti-party activities when he had issues with the party. He then decided to start a party of his own.

A producer, television artist, playwright, director, and film and theater artist as well, who has played and continues to play the various roles that make use of humour and wit. Back in 1950, this young mechanical engineer who went on to pursue his post graduate diploma in Air Conditioning and Refrigerating began his career not as a mechanical engineer but as a theater artist in the year 1974. He then stepped into Kollywood as a photographer for the movie Mogham. His photographic skills were adorned in various Tamil Magazines. The legendary filmmaker K.Balachander then spotted him and gave him a role in the movie Ninaithale Inikkum and went on to give him a full-fledged role in the film 'Varumayin Niram Sivappu' starring Kamal Haasan and ‘ Sridevi’.

He went on to perform roles in about 96 Tamil movies and stepped into the small screen shows such as; Nam kudumbam, Vannakolangal, etc. They were massive hits for him as a television artist. Further into his career as an actor, producer, director, playwright and what not, he then went to produce his very own television show, 'S.Ve. Shekher meets S.Ve. Shekher' where he puts himself in both the roles; interviewer and interviewee. He has also directed other shows like ‘Sabhas’, Comedy King, Nathaka Vasool Chakravarthy, Drama Superstar, Sirippalai Chirpi, Nagaichuvai Thenral, Nagaichuvai Nayagan, Nagaichuvai Ilavarasan, and ‘Natakharathna’.

Back in 1973, having been inspired by his journey, when part of the Singapore drama team and also part of a popular drama team by the name 'Mylapore Boys' which were in stiff competition with the Crazy troupe, led by Crazy Mohan, went on to start his troupe, Natakhapriya, that has staged about 24 plays. His drama troupe went on to perform around the globe; Europe, UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, United States of America and South America. He went on to feature in the Limca book of Records for having produced plays throughout the day, right from the morning, 7:47 A.M until the next morning, 1.49 A.M, which accounted for eight plays altogether, in the month of April, the year 1985. His play 'Adhirshtakaaran' went on to be directed and produced into a film, Krishna Krishna, with him playing the lead himself. Shekhar did not just curtail himself to acting and performing but went on to write as well. He has released 32 books to date that contain his story and dialogue of all his stage plays. These books also comprise of his jokes, his views; and answers to social topics put forth to him by his fans, which caused him to once again be mentioned in the Limca Book of Records. Shekhar went on to receive a doctorate for his Theatrical and Social services by the American Tamil University. Today he stands as one of those legendary playwrights who stand along with the members of drama troupes in the United States of America. After all the hard work he invested in his passion for theater, he went on to bag the 'Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram's Kalai Maamani Award' and the 'Best Drama Troupe' Award.

Shekhar also won the Best All India Programme producer award for four consecutive years from the Radio and Television Advertisers and Producers Association - RAPA. He has not been acclaimed to be the 'Best Comedian' by just the Mylapore Academy, but also by celebrities such as Kamal Haasan, ‘ Rajinikanth’ and A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. He was also acclaimed to be the same by Wisdom magazine. Shekhar has also bagged the award of Tamil Nadu's prestigious Kalaivanar Award.

Politically, S.Ve Shekhar is an important member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu, i.e., part of the AIADMK - All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, representing Mylapore. He then started his party, since he had issues with AIADMK, which caused him to get expelled from the party in the year 2009. In the same year, he began his own Brahmins Association under the name FEBAS which did not receive any support or assistance from the already existing Brahmins Association group, THAMBRAAS.

Concerning his personal life, Shekhar married Uma, the granddaughter of the famous music composer, G. Ramanathan. He has two children, one son by the name Ashwin Shekhar, who recently made his debut in the Malayalam film, ‘ Vegam’ and also, a daughter by the name Anuradha. Apart from family and career, he also indulges in performing social deeds as well. He is a regular blood donor and has donated more than fifty times. He has been an effective and efficient fundraiser for a number of campaigns organised by the Jaycees, Rotary Clubs, Lions Clubs and several other social institutions. He is also a part of the 'Each one Teach one' literacy program. He doesn't stop with just that but also contributes his earnings to the Neurology Department of General hospital for them to provide respirators to patients. Also, his Trust, Sri Sukar Public Charitable trust helps out poor students, physically handicapped, cancer patients, mentally retarded people, old age homes, and orphanages and also conducts awareness programs on blood and eye donations, diabetes, global warming, juvenile diabetics, mass burial of unclaimed bodies and animal welfare as well.

Babu is a multi-faceted personality who mostly works in South Indian film industry. He is a student of University of Madras and had also attended the AM Jain College in Tamil Nadu. He debuted in a movie named Kadai Pura which was released in the year 1993 which he didn’t just act in but also directed.     After acting and directing several movies, he tried launching a great number of movies, and they faced a lot of issues and were more often than not canceled.
