Balaji Balakrishnan

Balaji Balakrishnan is a Tamil actor. He acted in some TV serials and movies. He is also known by his screen name Joe. Balaji was first cast in Vijay TV’s school serial ‘Kana Kanum Kalangal’. He made it through the auditions quite easily, since his talks and actings were vivid and entertaining. He was given the role of Joe, the school Principal’s son. He, as his nature was, lived that character very enthusiastically, rather than just acting. He would crack jokes all of a sudden in the serial and in the shooting spot as well and add to everyone’s laughter. Balaji learnt a lot from his first serial, he later described, and befriended many co-actors whom he worked with in the serial.

After the grand success of his first serial, he was roped in to perform a schoolboy again in the movie ‘Pattalam’ that had Nadiya in the lead role. It was about a bunch of school-going children, and the story that revolves around them. The movie got mixed reviews at the box office. Director Boopathy Pandian cast him in a lead role in his venture ‘Kadhal Solla Vanthen’. This time, Balaji played a college guy who is in love with his senior. His portrayal of a college student perfectly suited him and his acting was praised though the movie did not fare well at the box office. Balaji now is waiting for his next chance. He is pursuing his studies ad interim.
