Kanmani is an Indian film director for both Tamil and Telugu language films. He first started his directing career in Tamil films and later gained more success and popularity with his direction of Tamil language films. Kanmani was born on 19 June 1980 and is 38 years of age as of 2018. Kanmani completed his educational degree at Presidency College, Chennai. After which he joined as the chorus singer to Ilaiyaraaja, a singer, songwriter and composer. Kanmani worked for 12 years with him. Kanmani started his directing training as an apprentice under the director, Saran during the making of the 2002 Tamil language gangster film Gemini. Kanmani made his directing debut with the low – budget 2003 Tamil language romantic comedy film Aahaa Ethanai Azhagu (English: Wow! What a beauty) starring Mithun, Nasser, Charmy, and Pyramid Natarajan. He then ventured to Telugu language films where he directed the 2005 film Naa Oopiri and the 2006 film Chinnodu. Chinnodu was a success at the box office. It was then dubbed in Hindi and released as the film, Ek Aur Ilzaam. Chinnodu was also copied in Dhallywood and released as Nishpap Munna. In 2008 he directed the social drama Telugu language film Call Centre. In 2009, Kanmani directed the Tamil romantic film Odipolama (English: Shall we elope?) starring Sandhya and Parimal in the lead roles and also Kota Srinivas Rao and Suman Shetty as pivotal roles for the film. In 2013, Kanmani directed the Telugu language romantic film Chukkalanti Ammayi Chakkanaina Abbayi starring Vimala Kamal and Tarun Kumar as lead roles. In 2015, he directed the Telugu language romantic comedy film Beeruva starring Surbhi and Sandeep Kishan as lead roles. This film was a massive hit at the box office. It was later dubbed in Hindi language and released under the title Mera Faisla. Kanmani wrote and directed the 2016 Tamil language horror comedy film Peigal Jaakirathai (English: Beware of ghosts!) starring Eshanya and Jeeva Rathnam as lead roles while Thambi Ramaiah, John Vijay and, Rajendran also play a pivotal role. The film received mixed reviews. In June 2018 Telugu language horror drama film was released which was once again written and directed by Kanmani. The film stars Posani Krishna Murali, Shakalaka Shankar, Ballireddy Prudhviraj, Ali Basha, and Apoorva K.
