RK Shanmugam

RK Shanmugam was a dialogue writer cum assistant director. Shanmugam was married to Devi and had four daughters. Shanmugam started his career as an assistant director to director BR Panthulu. Captain Blood, an English novel, was an inspiration behind Aayirathil Oruvan. After the super hit success of the film, Shanmugam did a lot of films with MGR, including Rikshakaaran, Nalal Neram, Neerum Neruppum, Nadodi, Ninaithathai Mudipavan, Pallandu Vaazhga, Ragasiya Police 115, Ooruku Uzhaipavan, Sirithu Vaazha Vendum, and Thedi Vandha Mappillai.

In 1980, Shanmugam was honoured with the Kalaimamani award from the government of Tamilnadu, and MGR presented him with a house. On 12^th September 2017, Shanmugam died at the age of 87 due to a heart attack.
