Sara

Sara’s full name is Sara Vijayakumar. She is a Tamil Costume Designer, American Media Proprietor, and Fashion Stylist at Movie industry in Singapore. She was born and raised up in Singapore. Currently, she is residing in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. In 2008, she completed a Bachelor of Design in Fashion Marketing & Management at the Raffles College of Design and Commerce, Singapore. In addition to this, later she did a dressmakers course for a year. In December 2007, while Sara was pursuing her final year of her bachelor degree, she took part in an Indian version of the “ Project Runway Story Soon >> Read More... ,” a design competition/ reality show which took place for a month in Chennai and comprising of various creative challenges. The reality show was aired on Vasantham TV, a National Television channel in Singapore. She won the competition. As a winning prize, she was awarded with a contract from the movie production company Sathiya Jyothi Films to design costumes for their Tamil Feature film “Baana Kathadi.” This made the beginning of her career in the Tamil film industry and colourful experiential journey in India. From 2012 to 2014, she worked as merchandiser and event organiser in Singapore. She has organised and participated in a total of six sales exhibitions in various venues.

She travelled to various parts of India and carefully handpicked from fabric wholesalers, designers and suppliers an exclusive range of fabrics, prêt-a-porter wear by multiple designer labels, designer jewellery, and evening clutches for her exhibitions and online store. Sara then worked as a costume designer at RS Infotainment in Chennai for nine months. She led and managed a team of 3-5 costume assistants and tailored professionals in the processof styling various celebrities. Later, she worked at Global Infotainment, where she carried out costume trial sessions as and when required & designed exclusive costumes for actor Jiiva. She worked as a celebrity stylist – freelance at Sun Television Network. She managed design concepts, wardrobe sponsorship brands & client (actress/singer), developed ideas & design outfits, and supervised the construction of the clothing. From Mar 2009- Nov 2019, she worked at South Indian Film Industry in Chennai.

She designed and styled for fifteen Tamil movies, including Engayum Epothum (2011), Valliyavan (2015), Kavalai Vendam Click to look into! >> Read More... (2016), Sammy 2 (2018), Komali (2019), and many more. Also, she has designed and styled for several brands like Lalitha Jewellery, JMT Jewellery, RMKV Sarees, Star Vijay Promotion, and so more. Since, March 2021 she has been working as a Fashion Stylist in Singapore. She has almost twelve years of working experience in the Fashion, movie and retail industry with an extensive background in the local and International market. During this time, she has been a personal stylist to many A-list actors and celebrities while working for magazine companies, television channels, award organisers, and production houses.
